Helios 18 - PH18-71 - Predator Sense Scenarios and Modes & Fan Control

Hey All,

Just got my new Helios 18 in Australia and so far, I'm pretty happy with it, other than a couple of issues.

The first one is controlling fan speed via Scenarios and Modes. There seems to be no way of attaching a fan speed to each of the modes. So, when you use the hardware mode switch, to change from Balanced to Turbo, the fan speed stays the same and you need to go in and manually change it.

The only way I can see to attach a specific fan speed would be via scenarios. I could have one scenario called "normal use" and one called "gaming". I could then attach a different fan speed to each.

The issue with the latter is that there is no shortcut or button to use that switches between the two scenarios like you can with the mode switch for modes. I will have to open Predator Sense and change the scenario manually.

Can someone let me know if I'm missing something. I would like to have a situation when I start a game like Microsoft Flight Sim, which causes high CPU temps, where I could just press a button or shortcut that would automatically increase performance to Turbo and fan speed to something I have set manually (I find around 4500 is a good trade-off between temp and noise for MSFS)

Cheers

Mick

Thanks for the reply @MRWHOAMI_78. I've been playing around today and realised that I can achieve what I want by adding a new scenario, such as "gaming", and then using app link to add the games I wish it to apply to. So now when I start MSFS it loads the given scenario with my choice of mode and fan control option.

@mikeyjames I just got my Helios 18 and I have the same issue. When I select Turbo is doesn't even ramp to full like my older Triton does. I have to select the full fan speed myself. I was wondering if I was missing something too. I'll try creating a new scenario like you did. Thanks for the tip.

Also, my screen won't wake/turn on from a closed lid or sleep. The keyboard lights up and the HD light shows activity but the screen stays black. I have to do a full restart to wake her up. Have you run into anything like that?

    Hi @Hebredes

Same issue with setting Turbo, the fans never seem to kick up a notch. My benchmark scores improve, so something is happening but fans always seem to stay pretty low even with CPU at near 100c

Mine wakes up fine from sleep though.

    Cheers
