The Kingston memory he references is XMP memory with a base speed of 2666 and an XMP speed of 3200. Hence the result he go on the PO3-620 motherboard. When he replaced the motherboard with one that supported XMP he could run the memory at the 3200 speed. That's all the expected behavior.

Interesting. All sticks should have at least more than one JEDEC profile. And yes, you may be right. It could be that for some reason the sticks you tried don't have XMP. My bad. Maybe this is a cost saving measure? Buy what is cheapest?

If you run CPU-Z or AIDA64 Extreme like I did below, you should see a table that lists the timings. Mine does mention XMP. (Some have many memory profiles and even more than one XMP.) On a normal board and with a good enough IMC, you should be able to manually set the RAM run faster and with tighter timings if there is no XMP(s) to choose from.

This is my current ram and I have enabled XMP. If I had not switched that toggle in BIOS, it would run @2400.

As ofr Po3-620, it came with two sticks of Kingston DDR4-3200. The only thing I had to do in the aftermarket BIOS was to enable XMP. Too bad I don't have the timings table of that RAM anymore, thou. Anyway, if Acer had enabled XMP in bios, the PC would have been considerably faster. Oh, well…

Acer's marketing likely wants to have good reasons for a customer to buy the more expensive models. The PO3 systems are their entry level Predators, and have entry level features. The PO5 and PO7 models have better performance and more features enabled, such as XMP support on the newer ones. It all comes down to the target market for each model. If they enabled XMP in the PO3 models, there would be less incentive for someone to choose the PO5 over a PO3.
