Urgent! - Acer projector no longer detected by computer

Alright, I'm rather desperate. I work at a bar and in two days, we're hosting a soccer match broadcast via the web (match is streamed from browser so will have to use computer). Our Acer H7530 (I think, can't find model nr) projector is no longer recognizing computers via HDMI however. I'm at a loss for what to do. Here are some facts:

  • The configuration is HDMI to Ethernet to HDMI to PC (HDMI to DVI adapter into gfx card), to cover the distance between projector and PC (~10 meters)
  • The projector is ceiling mounted
  • If I plug the HDMI into our Digital decoder instead of the PC, it receives television signal just fine, we can still broadcast HD television on the beamer.
  • When we connect a laptop to the projector via VGA, it works just fine. This is not an option however since the distance is too big and we have to use our own PC
  • We've tried several PCs with HDMI ports, all give the same issue.
  • The funny thing is, when we boot a PC, there's image of the BIOS loading and all that, it shows the Windows start up screen, but once inside Windows the signal is lost.
  • So to sum up: when trying to project image from a PC via HDMI within Windows OS, the beamer's not getting a signal.

Is there any solution to this? Thanks in advance.

Well, the event has come and gone, and thankfully we managed to work around it with a long VGA cable and a laptop. Still, it's a rather crude solution and of course, it's not HD.

Again, the problem is that the beamer can't communicate with a Windows PC anymore, when connected via HDMI. It shows BIOS and everything outside Windows fine, then loads Windows, and shuts down. Happens on multiple PCs, regardless of OS version. Cable is fine, because connecting to a digital decoder still shows television image.

Is there anyone out there with a suggestion to fix this problem?

    hi,

have you tried to display a very low resolution from the computer? like 640x480 or such?

if that doesnt work, deinstall the video driver and reinstall it.

the fact that there is an image before windows kicks in suggests a faulty setting with the graphic card.

...but the fact that the problem happened on different computers is a bit odd, if it's merely a driver issue (assuming that the different computers had different GPU's and thus, different drivers)...but a good suggestion, none-the-less.

Would try your best to figure out what changed - something must have happened to cause the problem, and as it has magically reverted itself, it isn't technicaly/physical as long as you sure everything is set up the same...probably some software (possibly a driver) that is fully integrated with Windows.
