Total SSD Slots and Storage Capacity for Acer Nitro 5 (AN517-41)?

Hello!

I've used external hard drives for gaming for years; I don't know if I've had bad luck or if it's normal, but they wear out after a couple years. I'm tired of having to replace them so often, so I'm looking into a SSD for my Acer Nitro 5.

I'm very confused about both the number of slots and the max storage limit.

According to this page of the specs for my laptop, it only has one SSD slot. But according to the sticker on my laptop (and Acer when I ordered this a couple years ago), it has two SSD slots. I've also seen a couple

The Acer spec page I linked to also says it has a SSD capacity max of 1TB. But I've seen other people adding 1TB and 2TB SSD in addition to the 512GB SSD that's already installed.

Just how many SSD slots does this model have, and just what is the max SSD capacity?

    This model has an empty M.2 and 2.5-inch drive slots for you to upgrade.

    There is no storage capacity limit so installing a M.2 or SATA 2TB SSD will have no problem at all.

    This laptop accepts both NVMe and non NVMe type M.2 SSD PCIe3x4 drives, it doesn't matter. You laptop came fitted from Acer with either a WD SN530 which is an NVMe M.2 SSD drive or a Samsung PM981a or a Kingston OM8PDP3 type drive that both are not an NVMe M.2 SSD drive.

    Your laptop accepts and works with M.2 SSD drive of NVMe and non NVMe type drives and only works with 2.5" SATA III SSD or spinner drives.

    In my opinion, the best and quickest PCIe3x4 M.2 SSD drives are either the Samsung 970 NVMe Pro or Plus or the WD SN750 Black NVMe M.2 SSD, you can also fit the Gen 4x4 drives like the WD SN770 Black or the Samsung 990 Pro as they are backward compatible also and will wotrk in an M.2 SSD PCIe3x4 slot of your AN517-41 laptop.

    Note: that a Gen 4 M.2 SSD drive, is a good future investment if you want to upgrade to a new laptop/desktop in the future, as the Gen3 type M.2 drives are being phased out quickly for the new Gen4 and even up to the lightining fast 12,400 MB/s Gen 5 M.2 SSDs, which are coming out and being fitted to high end laptops and desktops already, so consider all this when you upgrade also.

    Thank you! Just to clarify for my sake (I'm new to all this stuff), if I want to install another SSD it has to be either a M.2 or 2.5-inch SATA, not a M.2 or 2.5-inch NVME?

    I have read on some article my Nitro 5 only support up to 2TB of storage, my configuration currently are 512GB in both m.2 slot and 1TB on sata. I wanted to know is it possible to add atleast 6TB for 2TB in each slot? I asked since there's no information of how much the limit of storage can be installed on terms of storage size

    @Diars

    There is no storage capacity limit, so you can add like an 8TB SSD.
