What can I do if my computer does not power on?

I have a 1 month old Iconia W510.

Yesterday, after a full charge, I woke it up, and the home screen cam on as usual. Then after a moment, I saw a brief message saying Windows needed to restart, and the tablet powered down.

Now it is dead and will not respond at all.

I spoke with a tech agent by chat this morning and he talked me through a "hard reset", to "get to the Android home screen".   Firstly, it's  a W8 device, and from what I can see from searching, there's no reset key presses on this tablet.

Has any one had this happen at all? Just want to check before I go through the hassle of sending it in for service.

If for some reason the charge didn't happen I'd say your battery is down... I assume you've tried booting with the charger connected?

W3 reset is a pinhole next to the microSD card slot.

W510 appears to be above the volume rocker on side. Neither is marked.

When the power connector is attached, is the led next to the power switch off, orange, orange blinking, or blue ?

Yes, I've tried a power up with the charger plugged in.

The LED is solid blue when plugged in.

    Thanks.

the hole above the volume rocker looks more like a mic to me.

If the charge light is solid blue when plugged in then when you press the power button on a W3  it should start blinking slowly. My W510 light is on constantly.

I have to apologise and agree the hole by the volume control on the W510 does appear to be the microphone. The one on the W3 by the SD card slot does not. (used control panel>sound>recording and watched the bar graph to test).
