How do I fix a Chromebook CP713-2w, model N19Q5 that keeps crashing the Chrome OS?

The message that the Chrome OS is defective or missing keeps locking up the Chromebook. The recovery does not work most of the time, but if it does restore the OS, halfway through the setup, it crashes again. I replaced the SSD based on advice from the community, which did work great for a few days, but then it crashed again. Now, it will not recover at all.

As this is a 3-year-old Chromebook I recommend bringing/shipping it to Acer Services in your country to reset the system to factory defaults and check/replace the battery, include the power adapter to check also.

I did not send my 713 to Acer yet because after I finally got it to recover, it worked great for four or so weeks. It even passed all the diagnostics. Unfortunately, it crashed again today with the "ChromeOS is damaged or missing" message. In the time it was working, the battery held up like it did during the time before it started crashing, so I don't understand why the battery would be the fault. One symptom I noticed, just before it crashes, is that the CPU cooling fan starts to run continually until it crashes. No matter what I do when I hear the fan start up (close tabs, shut down) it does not help. How can I assure that the real problem will be resolved if I send it to Acer, and not just a recovery that fails again after four weeks or so?
