I've been charging it and it does turn on and work normally, but as soon as I take out the charger, it just shuts off and when I go on settings it says the battery is at 0%.

Have you checked the charging port of your laptop?

might be damaged or loose. If it's a physical issue, it may need to be repaired or replaced.

Or, certain software issues may interfere with the charging process. Perform a thorough antivirus scan and check for any background processes that might be affecting power management.

Check if your BIOS version is 1.11 (2022) if not, update your BIOS with this link: https://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/BIOS/BIOS/BIOS_Acer_1.11_A_A.zip?acerid=637974378462167379&Step1=&Step2=&Step3=ASPIRE%20A315-34&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_6
I believe this model is about 4 years old, have you replaced the battery yet? You probably should as the problem you describe indicates that 1 of the 2 cells died, average laptop battery lifespan is 3-4 years: https://www.laptopbatterydirect.net/acer/acer-aspire-3-a315-34-battery.htm or

Below are the 3 different batteries that your A315-34 laptop takes, the highlighted numbers are the Acer part numbers that you should search the web with to get an oem battery, don't get a copy battery as they are useless. Also have a look inside your laptop and chase the DC_IN jack circuitries of the main power rail like capacitors and mosats if any are burnt or damaged, as if your laptop turns off when the adaptor is unplugged then there is something internally wrong.

Check the DC_IN jack (circled in red) and chase its power rail circuitry components for shortages ior burned capacitors or filters or mosats for damage, as that will contribute to laptop not charging and/or working on battery. Best is to take your laptop to either Acer Tech Support or an experienced technician in your area.

There could be several reasons why your Acer Aspire 3 A315-34-C7SU is not charging or holding a charge. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Check the Power Outlet and Adapter:
      • Ensure that the power outlet you're using is working properly.
      • Check the power adapter for any visible damage. If possible, try using a different power outlet or adapter to rule out issues with these components.
    2. Inspect the Charging Cable:
      • Make sure the charging cable is securely connected to both the laptop and the power source.
      • Inspect the cable for any signs of damage or fraying. If you see any, consider replacing the cable.
    3. Reset the Battery:
      • Shut down your laptop.
      • Unplug the charger.
      • Remove the battery (if possible).
      • Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds.
      • Reinsert the battery (if applicable) and plug in the charger.
      • Turn on the laptop and check if the issue is resolved.
    4. Update Drivers:
      • Make sure your laptop's battery and power management drivers are up to date. You can check for updates through the device manager or Acer's official website.
    5. BIOS/UEFI Update:
      • Check if there are any BIOS/UEFI updates available for your laptop on Acer's support website. Updating the system firmware may resolve power-related issues.
    6. Battery Health Check:
      • Some laptops have built-in battery health diagnostic tools. Check your laptop's documentation or Acer's website for information on how to perform a battery health check.
    7. Faulty Battery or Charger:
      • If possible, test your laptop with a different compatible charger to see if the issue persists. If the problem goes away, the original charger may be faulty.
      • If the laptop still doesn't charge with a different charger, there may be an issue with the battery. In this case, you may need to contact Acer support for further assistance or consider replacing the battery.
    8. Professional Assistance:
      • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's recommended to seek professional help. There could be an internal hardware problem that requires the expertise of a technician.

Remember that tampering with the hardware may void your warranty, so if your laptop is still under warranty, it's advisable to contact Acer's customer support for assistance.
