Hi all,
I have a problem with my Acer V Nitro 15 VN7-592g after a repaste of CPU/GPU, I try to summarize you what happened:
I did a first repaste and then, when I powered up my laptop, the left fan is always running at let's say 60%-70%.
I did e second repaste and then, when I powered up the laptop, also the right fan started to spin constantly at let's say 40% - 50%
I tried all kind of resets (BIOS, Battery), i tried to run Ubuntu on a USB to check if the Windows OS has problems.

I have to add that if I use the Acer software "Dust Cleaner" the fans respond correctly to the variation triggered by the software.

I've noticed that also in the BIOS menù the fans are spinning, so I suppose it could be maybe a problem related to the temperature sensors on the motherboard but I'm not sure.
Both fans can spin freely and no dust/hair are in them.
Could I ask you If you have any advice on this strange behavior? Maybe a thermal issue with the thermal paste or the little thermal pads (layered on I don't know what chips they are).
Thank you so much for your attention!

    @Dr_Sato

What paste did you use? Bad-quality paste will not do a great job of heat transfer and cause the fan to spin faster than normal.

Please remember to include @AnhEZ28 when you want to reply back to my comment so that I can check your response.
Thank you and have a nice day!

Arctic mx4, the second time i repasted i've used less thermal paste and then also the rigth fan started spinning continuously. Maybe I have to find "the rigth spot" for the amount of thermal paste?

The paste makes NO difference which one you use, the MX4 Arctic is a good high end paste that allot of techs use and should not have any effect on how your fans spin, as this should NOT be happening, both fans should be spinning equally for the different temps that its setup for. Do a hard reset of the laptop and take the main battery out and disconnect the RTC/BIOS battery and shot its +&- pins of the mobo plug to reset the CMOS and take the ram out, leave the laptop like that for 15min and reconnect and reboot, as this should reset the IO, Chipset and BIOS chips of your laptop which govern the fans speeds and temp sensors. Try the reset and let us know, as if a hard rest doesn't reset your laptop and fixes this fan issue(s) then it could be that the sensors are faulty, or the IO chip is faulty and needs replacing or reprogramming, which is a more complex thing.

    Hi @StevenGen ,

thank you for your detailed explanation on the topic. I've tryed your steps but unfortunately with no result:

    • unplugged battery, CMOS battery, short circuited the poles of the CMOS battery and waited for 1 hour
    • plugged back everything

At this point I think I can try to bring the laptop to a PC specialist.

Anyway, what a strange behaviour, the fans respond to the Acer Dust Defender correctly and the several temperature monitoring softwares report all low temps (28-30) in idle BUT the fans spin constantly…

    Thank you again.
