TravelMate P4 - CPU performance when working with a USB-C dock

This question is general about a powerful laptop with a USB-c dock.

I have an ACER TMP416-52G-7057 (i7 1355U + RTX2050) and an EIZO EV3285 LCD with docking function.

When working on the USB-C dock, my CPU does not work at full power, as when I connect the laptop itself alone to a 90W charger. Unfortunately, if I connect a USB-dock and a 90W transformer, it prefers USB power.

Has anyone solved the problem of getting the laptop to full power if I have a USB-C dock?

Your monitor only has 60W power delivery and your system needs 90W. Many docking stations will provide the full 90W needed by the laptop. Luckily your system supports charging from either of the two USB-C ports, so you can use the monitor as a dock and have full charging on the second port.

thanks for the reply. The notebook specification states that a maximum of 65 W can be charged via the usb-c port. Do you think the Port will release more watts? or can the two ports be merged somehow?

The P416-52G models need 90W of charging power, the P416-52 models use 65W instead, since they don't have the discrete GPU. Your monitor only provides 60W, so you really need a separate 90W supply. Two 60W supplies will still only provide 60W, not 120W.

Thank you for answer. I understand this. I want to ensure that the laptop is powered from a classic 90W source connected to the charging connector. And it only docked via USB-C. Unfortunately, the laptop ignores the connected 90W adapter.
