I just purchased Aspire 3 Spin 14 at Costco, and am dismayed to not see Power Management in the BIOS menu. I need to be able to have the machine power up according to a schedule.

Please advise me how to make this option visible.

Thanks.

Yeah, they often don't give details as to what they changed in BIOS updates. My guess would be they won't be adding features to the UI though since that requires more regression testing before release than a bug fix or internal tweak.

Power is managed in Windows11 Advanced Power Plan settings, not in Acer BIOS other than S0-S5 Modern Stand-by.

Thanks for your answer, but you're not understanding my question. This is *** not *** about Windows Power Management, which is in control once Windows is running. This is about BIOS power management, which is in control during boot up *** before *** Windows is running, and on most other computers can be used to schedule the machine to turn itself on. This option is not visible in the BIOS menu of my new machine.

In the BIOS, on the Main tab, enable Wake from S4 support. Then set Windows to wake the machine on the schedule you require. As long as you don't fully power it down it should work as you wish. This model is a fairly low end consumer machine, not really targeted at the commercial market, so has fewer business specific options.

Thank you for your answer. I've enabled S4 support, set up a task manager task to wake the machine, and tested it. This seems like a reasonable work-around for the missing Power Management function in the BIOS, which is version 1.06 on my new machine.

As far as business-specific options, this is the first laptop I've ever worked with that didn't have Power Management functionality in its BIOS. It doesn't seem like it would have been any kind of cost to Acer to include a BIOS version with the functionality. I wonder if it would be possible to download and install a BIOS version with it? The Acer web site says there is a version 1.07 available for download, but there's no apparent release description other than "Optimizes system configurations and settings."

You might be able to get BIOS Power Management by going to ACER Product Support, entering the specification for your product, and then going to "Drivers and Downloads." There is a specific tab for BIOS downloads, one of which says "Optimizes power settings."

Sorry if this isn't helpful, I just got the same computer and noticed the above while trying to solve a different issue.
