Hello, I have an Acer Aspire A515-55-56HH. Power port has been faulty for a long time, power would go in and out then it finally died. Found out this is a known problem and there are several youtube videos showing you how to replace it. I live in a very rural area so I have to do a lot of electronic repairs myself. Ordered the parts watch the video everything went smooth. Plugged it in the light came on by the port saying it was plugged in. When I opened it up however the battery was dead and won't charge even though the light is on the side saying it's charging. Any thoughts on what the problem could be?

I hope that you disconnected the main battery while you did this DC-In port change? As if you didn't then you could have caused the boot problem, and it could be an even more serious problem. Check the primary power stage after the DC-In port like capacitor and/or a mosat that could be burned or shorted, as that is a main cause of these power problems, and if that happens then the battery doesn't work or charge.

Yes I did disconnect the battery. After leaving it plugged in all night the laptop did finally charge. I can't get the cord to to keep the charge though. It's like there is still a loose connection even though it has the new port and the connection is tight. I have tried two different power cords and same thing. I guess the port wasn't the problem? Must be something wrong with the laptop which is disappointing.
