Try to set the Supervisor Password in BIOS and see if you can access it, press Ctrl+S to show the advanced options, don't save BIOS settings but clear the Supervisor Password first as a locked BIOS can cause major issues after a crash, can even brick the laptop.

Your Nitro 5 AN515-55-53E5 should not be doing that as its only a couple of years old and the bios chip should be in perfect condition. Have you just updated the last bios version and that is what caused this bios fault? Has the bios been like that before or was this caused after installing the last bios update or this laptop last bios version 2.06 - 1. Improve for GPU protection. - 2021/09/29, as the reasons for a bios being greyed out could be from all these symptoms:

    1. You have not set a supervisor password to access the BIOS settings.
    2. You have a corrupted BIOS that needs to be recovered or replaced.
    3. You have updated the BIOS to a newer version that has some issues.

To troubleshoot this problem, you can try the following steps:

    • Perform a power drain by holding the power button for 10 seconds or using the battery reset pin hole on the back of your laptop.
    • Enter the BIOS by pressing F2 repeatedly when you turn on your laptop and set a supervisor password under the Security tab.
    • Enable or disable Secure Boot under the Boot tab and save the changes by pressing F10.

If none of these step's work, you need to have the bios reprogramed, so contact Acer support or a local technician that has all the tools for a bios reprogram or you might even need the bios chip replaced.
