Acer nitro 5 AN517-51 gaming laptop experiencing heavy fps drops after dropping it.

CPU: Intel i5-9300H
GPU: GTX 1650

So until recently on Valorant I had on average 170 fps, however today I dropped my laptop which I believed damaged the components of the computer because now I only average 30 fps in game. Is this a hardware issue, or can it be fixed by doing something in the computer? If its a hardware issue, how much would it cost to have it fixed?

Thanks

  • If you dropped your laptop, it depends where you dropped the laptop? Did you drop it on its side, on its back or front or where? What I would suggest is that you check the M.2 drive and ram module(s) first, take them out and clean their pins and make sure that they are connecting 100% to their slots, also check if there is anything that dislodged or is broken internally, as there could be allot of components that could have been affected by dropping a laptop.

Also do an OS reset with 'keep all files" of your laptop and see if that fixes the software part, if not then you need a technician to look at your laptops hardware and test its components, but if your laptop boots and has an image and you can play games on your laptop, its more a software issue or a very minor hardware issue like I've described above. Good luck and hope thius helps you out.

My laptop still runs ok, and can run games like Valorant, but at 30 fps. Opening programs also takes significantly longer than usual. I dropped the laptop on its back.
