Nitro5 515 how to install linux

I want to install linux mint on my Nitro5 515. When i go to this the installer bumps into the RST storage controller problem, i.e. It tells me to change the RST to AHCI. I followed the ubuntu instructions to change registry - that was fine. then to boot into safe mode-bios. In there I entered the storage controller via ctrl-s and changed to AHCI. Then shut down. On restart = blue screen with no repair option only "automatic repair" then this failed to blue screen. So I had to go back in and revert RST-optane.

So question is: How do I install Linux mint. I have a 1Tb Nvme ssd which has win11 and a 260Gb partition for the Linux for dual boot. I havent a clue how to proceed. I know this is really a linux issue but I have little joy there. Thanks.

Yes. I have two M.2 Nvme drives in there with win 11 on each drive. The larger drive (1Tb) has a second partition of 160 Gb for the Linux Mint. Thanks
