How long ago? What PC are you using? Can you HDMI out to a TV set to see if you have sound on the TV?

Does the monitor actually have speakers? What is the full model number? XN253QP is only the series of monitor, there should be a bunch of letters after that that will define what has been loaded on your specific SKU. Monitors are often offered both with and without speakers.

If you're 100% sure you had speaker sound at one point, how long ago was the last time or the one point you actually heard the monitor speakers

Open Control Panel. Search 'restore point'. Click 'create restore point' in the left pane. If System Protection is turned on in the box that pops up, click the System Restore button. Click next. Do you see any automatic restore points with date stamps approximately when the speaker sound disappeared?

Yes, the XN253Q Pbmiprzx SKU does have speakers. Is your sound to the monitor going through HDMI or though a phono jack?

Turn on System Protection just in case something else goes wrong.

Remove all cables from the monitor, including power. Then press and hold the monitor power button for about a minute.

With the PC turned off, re-connect the power and HDMI or DP cables. With the PC still off, turn on the monitor first. Wait about a minute. Then turn the PC on. Test speakers again.

Bring up Sound Settings with the HDMI connected. What does it show as the output device? What are the options for devices?

I have the same problem here is my experience

    I loved my previous Acer small form. So I bought this from Amazon : Acer Aspire XC-1660G-UW94 Desktop with 23.8” Full HD Monitor | 10th Gen Intel Core i3-10105 Processor | 8GB DDR4 | 256GB SSD | 8X DVD | Wireless Wi-Fi 6 AX201 | Bluetooth 5.2 | Windows 11 Home.

After setting it up, the sound failed. I worked with it and the sound came back for a few minutes. Then nothing again. I tried all the tricks like going to the Acer site for drivers etc, but no luck. Finally I called the support service number 866 695 2237. I had to provide proof of purchase from Amazon since I didn't have a receipt from a store. So far, OK. After proving purchase, I got a tech to help me. That was unsuccessful so they provided a return shipping label and I had the monitor boxed at my own expense for $27 and sent it in to be repaired. When I got it back, I set it up and there was still no sound! I called customer support twice, first time the call got cut off (probably a hang up). I called back and spoke to Val and got much the same as the first Rep -- that there are no speakers in the monitor.

The diagnosis by the repair person said that the monitor does not support speakers. The speakers worked twice for a short time but now I am being told that there are no speakers in this monitor. I searched on the Acer site for monitors without speakers and got 0 tesults. Everywhere I checked monitors, the only mention of speakers is If they are premium in quality. I asked the tech which Acer monitors don't come with speakers installed. She couldn't tell of any monitors that don't have internal speakers. Seems I got the Lucky Golden ticket monitor with no speakers included.

Next I pointed out that the system was described as complete. Nowhere does it say no internal speakers on this system. I asked for a copy of the spec sheet saying there are no speakers, but they could not provide any. Further I asked to speak to a supervisor, but they said they could't transfer me and told me to call back. I asked for a number to call other than same one I called twice. They didn't have one -- just start over with computer service which wouldn't accept the SNID of 149002083011 -- after entering the third digit, the system couldn't find the machine and I should talk to a rep, which I obviously had done several times already.

In short the first tech I called had me return the monitor because the speakers weren't working. Later techs said the speakers didn't exist. I am now calling corporate headquarters in San Jose, California. (Acer America Corporation, 1730 North First Street Suite 400 San Jose, CA 95112). MY customer reference number is CAUS213552039 and my Case ID is 1077720US.

My computer was brand new from Amazon, not refurbished as one tech suggested it might be. So anyone considering buying Acers with monitors should check if the monitor speakers are installed.

To Sum up: I was a loyal Acer customer, I got a defective monitor, and I have had to spend considerable time and my own money, and what have I got? A monitor that'll work just fine in outer space where there is no sound!

Be forewarned: Acer does not respect its customers when a defect is found.

I can only second your option - my monitor speakers worked fine since i bought the monitor April 2020 until last tested January 2023 —— what happened is a mystery …Acer support is not available in my country and it seems that nobody is willing to help especially if the warranty expired , even if I would buy for the fix…this is my first Acer product and probably my last one —- sad bc the specs were good

According to display specs, the monitor usually has two 2-watt speakers as standard equipment. Sound Control Panel should show an monitor output speaker with or without headphones plugged in. If not, then a hardware issue is likely.

The Amazon purchaser should arrange for a refund if still within Amazon's return merchandise authorization (RMA) period.

The OP with the out-of-warranty monitor should take it to a local TV or PC repair shop for an evaluation and repair estimate
