Dear Colls,

I have a 4 years old Nitro 5. Couple of weeks ago during a gameplay the screen got frozen. After a hard shutdown I got bluescreen. Windows 10 could not be reinstalled. I identified the problem as my SATA M2. SSD died. I bought a new one (WD Blue).

Windows 10 reinstall went fine, although it was a bit odd that after the first start many functionality (like USBs, touchpad) won't work, but after a couple of restarts the drivers automatically installed.

Yesterday I just wanted to play. So game got installed and when I started it realized the integrated Vega 10 GPU was operating, however previously I installed the official AMD Adrenaline for RX560 with the appropriate driver. I checked the device manager and RX560 has an exclamation mark. I've tried many ways to re-install it, but during the installation when the display should flicker and need to get back it remains black. The unit is working vents are working, keyboard is lighting but no display. It needs 2-3 hard resets (and BIOS default settings) with power button and then a win repair to get back to the Win10. I cannot decide is this a sofware anomaly (maybe an entanglement with the new SSD) or when the screen freezed under gaming at the beginning my RX560 GPU got dead as well beside of my SSD.

Please advise how can I solve the issue, if I can do so.

Thank you.

It may be the WD Blue SSD not compatible with the port, first uninstall the AMD display driver with DDU in Safe Mode, go online make sure internet is working and reboot, Windows will reinstall the correct display driver. Also check for the latest BIOS version for your model on Acer Support. If you still have issues, I suggest bringing the laptop to Acer Services in your country.

    Thank you for your feedback!

Will act accordingly. Can you please detail what do you mean under "not compatible withe port"? I carefully chose the right SSD M.2 (read acer community, to avoid not to buy NVMe M.2 which is not working with AN515-42 notebooks) before I bought WD Blue, in order to make sure their will be no compatibilty problem. Everything looks fine with the whole system execpt the GPU. :(

The WD Blues should be fine for this machine. Go to this link , download & install the Acer version of the RX560 driver
