Purchased recovery discs from Acer. Ran through all 5 discs stops at 99%. I figured maybe it was my harddrive. Purchased new HD, installed and ran trough all 5 discs, same thing, stops at 99%....

Any thoughts? I have installed many HD and operating systems never have seen this before. Very frustrating!! Someone needs this for school and it is not even that old and cannot get help from Acer.

Have you attempted to use the built-in recovery partition on the original hard drive?

Yes but it wouldn't boot to the recovery partition. That's why I thought it might be the harddrive.

How long did you leave it at 99% ? I have seen it sit there for hours. Shouldn't but have seen it. I'd leave it overnight before giving up.

I did that twice. Let it run overnight - check it - have a cup of coffee then start all over again. Could it possibly be bad Ram?

Generally it is going to be the hard drive, if there is faulty hardware.
