I'm currently having several problems with audio that affect all my Zoom meetings.

Many times there are to loud noises.

Frequently, people say that they can't hear me well (too low or with noise).

Sometimes I can't hear people well (too low), either with speakers or with headphones plugged in. And when I tried to increase the volume, it didn't work!

The above problems occurred with the only the laptop screen, because another time I was using a second monitor via HDMI and the computer crashed.

Sometimes with HDMI it also makes loud noises, without Zoom.

I'm tired of this PC, considering the ever increasing list of problems. I'm considering putting it on the trash and buy a new one.

I'm currently having several problems with audio that affect all my Zoom meetings.

What do you have set as your audio input and output devices? Are you using the Realtek Audio Console?

I'm using "Realtek ( R ) Audio" for both the speakers and headphones.

There is also a Realtek process that stats up on boot.

These problems (noise, problem of others hearing myself and/or vice-versa) did not occur in my last meetings after my first post, but I'm abstaining of using the headphones.

Anyway, I did not took and deliberate action, so I will take some more time to see if the problem was solved by itself.

When you first plug in the headphones Realtek asks you what was plugged in. Are they headphones (no mic) or a headset (has a mic)? You can use the Realtex Audio Console to change that to the correct type if you got it wrong the first time.

I plugged headphones yesterday and unplugged before a Zoom meeting today, so it should switch back to the PC speaker, even if it thought that it was connected to a headset with mic before, since it was unplugged before the meeting started.

However, nobody in the meeting could listen to me.

Realtek Audio Console doesn't offer any option to correct the problem. When the headphones are unplugged it says "Dispositivo de reprodução: Altifalantes" (in Portuguese) e "Dispositivo de gravação: Conjunto de microfones". No other option is available in both cases.

  • Have you configured Zoom's audio output yet?

The Zoom configuration is correct. There is only one option for speakers and microphone. I noticed the problem affects also the other applications.

The problem occurs every time I plug either a HDMI monitor or a headphone, and it remains after I unplug. Now the problem doesn't disappear even when I restart the computer.

There is some stuttering and the sound becomes too low in the speakers and microphone.

I went to the speakers and microphone advanced settings through the control panel and disabled all the defaults settings:

    • Exclusive mode
    • Hardware acceleration
    • Audio enhancements

For now the sound was restored. Let's see if the problem returns with time.
