I recently purchased a CP714-1WN acer chromebook . When I connected on my first video call there was an echo that was heard by the other party when they spoke. We tried different platforms and the problem still existed. I had a voip call and the other party complained about the same issues. I returned the chromebook thinking it was an issue with that unit and purchased the same unit and the same issue exists. Can anyone please let me know if they have had the issue and how to fix it (besides having to use a headset)? Thanks

What app or apps are you using when the issue presents? It sounds as if it's picking up what the speakers are putting out as well as your voice, so they hear both your voice through the mic and your voice through the video.

I have the same issue. The other participant hears their own voice back, so the issue is when they speak their voice comes over my 714's speaker and is picked up by the 714 microphone. A headset fixes this since there is no audio loop back into the mic.

I have experimented with different volume levels, hard reset, latest firmware updates, chrome://flags and different platforms (zoom, google meet) without any success unless I set the speaker volume close to minimum.

I am hoping a new chromeos update will fix the issue. I am using the latest 714 (with the 13th gen i5).

We are having the same issue here. Users of the 713 (1st and 2nd gen) are ok, 714 (1st gen) are ok but users of the 2nd gen 714s, including myself, are all having issues with echos during video calls. More testing is underway to try and narrow down the issue with other microphones and headsets to see if we can isolate the issue. There is definitely something wrong right now with the audio in the Spin 714 2nd Gen units.

I'm having this issue as well. I've had two Zoom calls and both of the other participants said they had a bad echo. I don't hear it, though. The idea that it comes over the 714 speakers and it's picked up by the mic is a good one. I rarely have Zoom calls, so won't be testing this for a bit. I would hate to have to use a headset when I'm at home. That would be really annoying. Turning the volume down also makes things…challenging.
