Acer Nitro 5 Laptop suddenly shutoff and no power.

Acer Nitro 5


I have had this laptop for 2 years now and took amazing care of it. It has always been plugged in while being used as i use it for gaming.

Yesterday Night, while I was playing, they laptop suddenly shutdown, no power. No lights even if the charger is plugged in. I think it was overheat issue, I let it rest for awhile then comeback, tried to open it but still no sign of life. Tried holding the power button for 15 seconds and still no hope

Any ideas?

    Do a Hard Reset by opening the back cover of the laptop, first disconnect and take the main battery out, disconnect the RTC/BIOS battery, take the RAM module(s) out and leave the laptop disconnected for 15min, as this will reset the Super IO and BIOS chip and fix the power on/off and boot problems.

    If the Hard Reset doesn't work, then you have other power on/off issues that are within the primary power stages of your laptop or could be a bios, super IO chip that need replacing/reprograming or a chipset, capacitor or a mosat that is faulty and needs replacing, but for all this specialist work you need to take your laptop to an experienced technician in your area, as taking it to Acer they will replace the motherboard for a new one as they don't do any internal replacements of circuitries or chips and that is why Acer is allot more expensive than a local technician that has the experience and is willing and can replace faulty or burned out chips.     I had the same problem but I felt and heard a zap. under the left side also it happened at 12:25am on the dot today under same circumstances. This seems to be happening very commonly too 3 post including mine.

    After opening mine up I found the charging circuit had heat damage and it bricked the laptop and it's batter

    Open yours up and remove the heat sync and check the little inductors near the charging port and check for discoloration also take the motherboard off and check under it too if something is black when it's not supposed to be then it's probably bricked and might not be worth repairing. I wonder why mine did not thermal throttle itself.
