Just bought a ACER Nitro 5 laptop and noticed the wifi connectivity on this laptop is very slow. Other devices are working fine. I tried to connect the laptop on different bands but still the same. I plugged in a USB wifi card and the wifi works fine but when connected directly to the laptops wifi card it runs so slow. Any solutions for this? My wifi card is Killer(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX1650i 160MHz Wireless Network Adapter (201NGW).

Which exact laptop model do you have? As it could be the actual wifi/bt card that is faulty (which is very rare and unlikely) or your drivers that need updating (but that should not be an issue either for slowness of connection) I've got a brand new Nitro 5 running on Win-11 and my wifi/bt card works 100% and very speedily with the Intel Killer AX1650i 160MHz card and this laptop is great and works in every respect 100% and perfectly.

If you have Win-11 go to System > Troubleshoot > Other Troubleshooters > Internet Connections and run that and see if that fixes your problem. Otherwise consult Acer service for advice as your laptop is under warranty so don’t open it and/or remove anything that could void your warranty and/or you could damage the laptop.

@StevenGen n. I have the Nitro AN515-57. I'm running on Windows 11 and I tried to update the drivers and rollback but it's still the same. Tried to do the troubleshooting advice you gave but it didn't find any problem :(

I have a warranty on this laptop but don't want to take it back to the shop since I understand it will take time and a lot of follow-ups to be returned.

@AnhEZ28 - Wifi drivers are already updated. I even tried to uninstall and reinstall it but it's the same problem. Think the wifi card on this laptop is faulty since the USB wifi I plugged in works like a charm

@Xian0309 I see. Since your laptop still has the warranty, I suggest you to send it for repair.

i bought Acer Nitro AN515-58. i'm facing a same problem, wifi very slow compare with my wife acer swift x, its only get half speed. i tried all suggestion on internet from uninstall and install driver, reset wifi network and another suggestion setting, i change my router. but it doesn't fix anything.

until i decided to buy a new wifi card, so i need to know the wifi card form factor, i open the backcase and pull off the wifi card, take it photo of it to send to a wifi card seller, plug in again. and use my laptop as usual and download some work file. and SURPRISE….it works normal, got a full speed. i don't know why this happen, but it fix the problem anyway.

    sorry for my bad english.

If you have the Intel Killer AX1650i Wi-Fi/BT card as your Nitro AN515-58 laptop also comes with the Intel AX201 Wi-Fi/BT card, both of these cards form factor are: M.2 2230, M.2 1216

The Intel Killer AX1650i Wi-Fi/BT card is a problematic card in Acer laptops, especially with bluetooth which on my Nitro AN515-56 laptop it does not work with any new Win-11 drivers except the Acer provided Intel driver version 22.40.0.2, so be aware of this factor. What must have happened to your card is that it wasn’t sitting its slot properly and the laptop wasn’t making 100% contact with the card.

BUT…uninstall it, restart..and then wifi speed go normal. well…at least for a few hours and back to problem. install and uninstall again..goes normal and back to slow after few hours…lol. is this a kind of metaphysics phenomena?

OK i think i find a weird solution for this slow wifi on my acer nitro 4 AN515-58. install KillerPerformanceSuite_34.23.3101 downloaded from intel website, restart, uninstall it, restart again, then prevent to automatic update driver, when the driver update, it will bring back the problem.

    sorry for my bad english

It may be bluetooth interference thing just like I posted a day ago. If you use bluetooth speaker, disable it and see the full speed of wifi. Works for me.

My bluetooth is if. I don't use any bluetooth device. I was change my wifi card with intel $20 wifi 6 ax201 (not sure what the different with wifi 6 ax1650i that came with the product) dondon'trget to download the driver before change wifi card. and now it works like charm. I think the wifi card is the problem from the first place.

I already regret buying this laptop. It has lots of problems and now this. Shimmering images when gaming, pretty afwul color accuracy on screen vs vs

Anyway I'm gonna live with it. I'm not buying any extra stuff for this cheap laptop.
