Hi,

I have an Acer Predator Helios 300. I have it since last December. The first 7 months it was working smooth and then like in August, 2022 my display screen starts to flicker from the bottom to a bit less than a half of the screen and it only happens whenever the charger is off (battery power). Does anyone know what's the reason? i was on windows 10 until like October and then i upgraded to Win11 to see if it fixes this but it didn't. I rolled back to Win 10 just yesterday to see if it fixes but also didn't. Im still on Win 10. I always had newest updates of both OS and Driver related. Nothing made sense and also i opened my BIOS to see if this a hardware error but i was on BIOS for like more than 5 mins and it never occured. So i believe it's not a hardware error but still have no idea what it is. If anyone knows a solution, pls let me know!!!!

ps:- i tried uninstalling Intel UHD drivers and when i did, it stopped. Whenever i reinstalled Intel drivers, it occurs but also when im on battery power. i have no issue when gaming or when plugged in for that matter. Although im sure this is definietly not a fault in the Nvidia gpu cuz i sperately uninstalled and reinstalled them to see if it's the faulty GPU.

    >>>it only happens whenever the charger is off (battery power).>>>>

    (1) Search 'cmd' in Windows start menu.

    (2) Right click command prompt near top of menu.

    (3) Click run as administrator.

    (4) Enter 'powercfg /batteryreport' at command prompt.

    (5) Then return to the desktop. Open file explorer.

    (6) Then search for' battery-report.html' in the c:\windows\system32\ sub-folder. Double-click to open it in the browser.

    (7) Post screenshot of the first part of the report if possible that compares design full charge capacity with its remaining full charge capacity.

When plugged in and battery near 100% charged, does it flicker immediately after unplugging the charger? Or does it take a while?

Most of the time it does but if i turend off the laptop right after i unplugged and then turned on the laptop, nothing occurs for awhile. Can't be specific of the time though. Mostly it occurs if i drained half of the battery. I hope this would be helpful for what you wanted to know.

Are you playing games or under significant power load when it starts to flicker when the battery drains to the 50% charge level? Because this is the point at which the charger should be plugged back in and allowed to charge back up if you want to continue heavy loads.

I do play games but only when plugged in as it's a gaming laptop that's the usual procedure. Other times just watch movies, using the internet etc.

FYI, videos on the internet can consume quite a bit of GPU power. Especially in full screen mode. Your machine does NOT seem to have a problem. As recommended earlier, plug the charger back in when the battery drains to about the 50% level.

but it won't fix the screen flickering would it? i have no idea how it occurs. It's annoying to witness it in a gaming laptop like this. If you know why it happens please let me know. Thanks!

Below 50% charge level battery starts to lose power delivery capability that affects GPU and screen properties. This is normally expected for many gaming laptops. This is why battery charging automatically takes precedent over CPU/GPU power demands when battery charge level drops to 50%.

So as mentioned earlier, plug the charger back in when the battery drains to about the 50% level for best GPU & video performance !!!!!
