Swift 3 Screen dying after shutting latop - Please help!

I've used my swift 3 for about 2 years now and never had an issue before, but over the last week or so I've been having problems whenever I open my laptop after shutting it. Regardless of how long its been shut for, the screen stays black on opening and wont turn on at all until I hold the power button down to restart. I've tried changing the settings for what it should do when the lid closes but nothing helps. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Open Control Panel. Search 'button'. Click 'change what the power buttons do' in left pane. Post screenshot of result if possible.

It still seems to go to sleep after a period of being closed and has now also started not to wake up after any sleep - not just when the lid is closed

over the last week or so I've been having problems

If FN+F6 or FN+F5 doesn't turn the screen back on with having to reboot, open Control Panel again. Search 'restore point'. Click 'create a restore point' in left pane. If System Protection is turned on in the box that pops up, click System Restore button. Click next. Do you see an automatic restore point with a date stamp from the last week or so?

Go back one level to the "Choose or customize a power plan", then select "Change plan settings for your selected power plan". On that screen select "Change advanced power settings". Expand the various options there and show us what is available on your system.

Thanks for your help - there are a lot of options when it's expanded. Do you know which one/s you need to see expanded?

Expand the sleep folder. Then disable, turn off or choose never for all the under sleep.

Also set the hard disk to never turn off…

  • I would first disable fast startup in power options. Then check if this issue continues to occur.
