Hi there,

I have a Travelmate P215-52 (TMP215-52-5600). It came with a 1TB HDD installed and I wish to upgrade this to SSD. Originally I was going to fit a 2.5" SSD but then noticed it had a slot for M2. I have read on a couple of sites that it has a max capacity of 512GB but can find no information direct from ACER for my model that the M2 slot even exists, and I had never heard of max drive capacities limited by the computer itself. I already ordered a 1TB Crucial P3 Plus drive so am hoping this will work!

Does anyone have any advice on this? Thank you!

You don't have a maximum size for the SSD in either the M.2 slot or the SATA. The specs shown are just what was shipped with the model originally. The actual limits for either are a mix between your wallet and the technology. I believe it's something like 4TB for the M.2 and 10TB for the SATA, just because you can't buy bigger…

Thanks for this. I eventually found that. I think it's confusing where people have posted specs and then the biggest drive option was 512GB. But I understand now.

    Thanks again.

Yeah, it is really common for someone to post specs that only show what shipped when the actual limits are based on what's available. The technical limit is something like 18EB (an exabyte is around a million terabytes), so it'll be a while before we start running into that. :)
