Is there any way to disable the sound the computer makes when booting up and shutting down? I have disabled in Windows 11 and tried to disable in the BIOS but no luck so far.

Turns out to be somewhat self-inflicted. When I bought the new computer in March I also purchased new Logitech speakers and a Cyber Power UPS. The UPS has outlets for an eco-mode that shuts off when the computer is shut off. It turns out that when I shut down the computer and the speaker system shut down, the speaker system was making extra sounds for both shutdown and start up and… even worse… these sounds occurred when I was in the BIOS. Now that I have the speaker system plugged in to a full-time powered outlet, I'm only getting a brief boot up and shut down tone. Not nearly so annoying.

Hi @Parts69 follow these steps to access system sounds:

    Press Windows key + I

In Settings menu, go to the Personalization section

    Select Themes option

    Click on Sounds

    Look at the different options

    Thank you.
    All the best.

Thanks for the answers guys. But no luck so far. As mentioned I had already tried the Windows route. As for the Predator Sense route, the only option it gives me is temperature. Maybe I need a different version?

Look in your BIOS for the option to turn on and off POST Animation and Sound:

You would think that the "Post Animation and Sound" in the BIOS would be the answer. But no luck there either. Tried both MUTE and DISABLED. In fact, while I am in the BIOS the annoying boot sound sounds every five or ten seconds. Who, at Acer, thought that is necessary? But that does indicate that the tones seem to originate from the BIOS rather than Windows.

Do you have an application installed that manages themes for Windows?

    Thank you.

I don' t believe I have any app managing themes for Windows. I do think that I have tracked down the source though. There is a driver for my speakers: Logi Z407. I tried disabling all the sound drivers and this was the only one that really did anything. When I reenabled this driver it made that silly sound that I have been trying to get rid of. That tells me that it is likely the source. The problem is, if I disable that driver it disables my speakers. But maybe I can check out the Logitech website for a different driver.

Yeah, you shouldn't need any special driver for speakers. Typically when they do have a special driver it's to provide extra functionality like preset sound profiles and such.
