Iconia w700 boot failure after Windows update..for the 2nd time

For the second time in few months W700 fails to boot after Windows 8 update. First time it was on a brand new system, and I used recovery DVD's (on my eternal frustration on how Acer manages recovery for devices without DVD player...shameful).

Anyway, the system now is few months old, and my wife has some data and work stored on W700, and using recovery DVD's is out of question, as I do not want to do factory reset. Is there any Acer tool that I can use to enter Windows 8 recovery options? If not why there isn't one, and when will it become available. I do not think Acer needs moore bad press on how it handles software support of their products, as by the word of mouth Acer PC business is collapsing.

Any ideas on how to procede? Thanks.

How about trying refresh pc or automatic repair? If im not wrong you can access it by pressing shift f8? Or either windows key with f8.

Naturally i tried it but all the discs that I got with W700 come up as invalid recovery media.
