recently purchased a AN515-52 in excellent working and cosmetic condition. I removed the original 1TB HDD and put in a known working Samsung 2.5" SSD. I get the No Bootable Device message, so I pressed F2 and was prompted to enter a password (which I don't have) then was prompted with an unlock password screen. A 'key' is provided (10 digits). This was entered but failed to unlock.

This machine was bought used and is definitely out of warranty.

    Thanks in advance

Doesn't that mean that you just don't have windows installed on it..

edit: i saw your other post and i think this might happen if windows is installed under a mode like uefi or legacy, and you try to boot with the wrong one. Change this in your bios boot settings.

This link describes the procedure how to prepare a 2.5" SATA SSD and make it the primary system drive detected by UEFI.

I was able to clone the original 1TB 2.5" SATA HDD onto a 256gb Samsung SSD 2.5" SATA, and everything seems to function as it should. My windows version is not activated, and I've failed to succeed at activation. It says I have a digital license for Win 11 Home single language, but I have Windows 11 Pro installed.

I believe this version of windows came from an organization or institution and I am very limited with what I can personalize or change in this OS. When I run CMD, there is just the one partition (disk 0) …..and I cannot clean it, nor convert to MBR (it's GPT now)…..disk 1 shows as "NO MEDIA"

If I want to start with a clean/empty 2.5" or Nvme SSD, will I find all the system files/everything needed on this webpage?

You will find the drivers but not windows, for that you need to grab the media cration toolkit and install it on the drive using another PC, ( https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10 ) 10 or 11 home should work

or you will need to ask the previous owner for the bios password :)

thank you, will I run into problems if there is too much storage on the replacement 2.5" or Nvme SSD?

Do you mean if you clone onto the new drive from the old :)? If so nope, you may need ro re-size the paritions but thats really easy . Personally i wouldnt as it can bawk the disk, instead making a new partion on the slack space is safer

Both are just done in disk manager and are just a couple of clicks, resize is richt click on the one you want → resizse → drag the bar → done

New partition is right click on the raw space →new parition → NTFS → done

So I removed the bottom cover and noticed this card (Intel Optane Memory M10) in the slot for an Nvme M. 2 ssd... My system only sees one internal drive (the Samsung 2.5" SATA SSD)

The seller told me that the system would shut down if I put a plug into the headphone jack. I haven't confirmed that. I have confirmed that the speakers are present and plugged in, but not producing sound. The device manager and audio settings indicate it's working properly

sorry been away for a few days!

Optane drives are fr speeding up the system, but only work if the software is installed so it sounds like windows isnt even seeing that drive

For the headphon jack, thats er a bit odd!
