Is Acer Iconia W700 i5 throttling problem fixed?

Hello,

I had the version i3 of the iconia w700 and I was really impressed of it performance and now I'm interesting to buy a i5 version, but I read on many forums that the i5 version had a throttling problem when the turbo boost was running for around 20 secondes. This could be a problem for me because I like to play games and test the performance of my devices. So there is my question: Does the problem of throttling is fixed for the W700-6407 (i5-3317U), or all i5 have this problem?

Thanks for you time

PS:My english can be hard to understand because I speak french, but if there is an ambiguity, simply ask to use other words to explain.

basically no. the device still clamps to 10w as soon as there is any strain.

Acer claim this isnt a problem but basically the i5 is the same speed as the i3

jason2234 is correct. Once the 10w clamp kicks in (after 15-20 seconds of full load), the i5 and i3 are indistinguishable. Pretty dissapointing considering how well this Ivy Bridge i5 can actually perform in its normal unclamped form.

If Acer allowed the i5 version to run at its "normal" speed while plugged in and be clamped during mobile mode, it would totally be understandable. But since its power gets clamped under all conditions, really you might as well go with the i3 version.
