Nitro 5 laptop AN517-41 - Windows 11 update 22H2 not showing up

Hi, I noticed the task manager on my laptop was different than my desktop, which prompted some digging where I found the laptop is running 21H2, not 22H2 and the update isn't even available to me. Going to Advanced Options → Optional updates, nothing shows up there either. Bought at Xmas, updated right away. No unusual software, just standard stuff like Steam. Only hardware changes were adding an 8GB stick of RAM and an SSD about a week after purchase.

Any insights are appreciated

Thanks

How did you update to W11 22H2, with the automatic Optional Upgrade offered by the Windows11 Update app. or did you upgrade manually with an ISO file downloaded? When you press the Windows key + R (run) and type: Winver in the box, what do you see on in that window? To check if the 22h2 Upgrade failed open Security and Maintenance in Control Panel and click on Maintenence and Reliability Monitor

If you see red errors click on the Problem Reports at the bottom of this page.

The Task Manager change you mention is an indication that you did upgrade to 22H2. If 22H2 upgrading failed I would wait till it is offered again by Windows Update (may take a few weeks). If you have an incompatible driver or perhaps issues with your new SSD/DDR4 you can check if you see yellow problem icons in Device Manager (check hidden devices too). If 21H2 runs fine, no error messages (check Event Viewer routinely for Critical Errors) you could try to upgrade manually by downloading the ISO file (see this link)

I don't believe I've ever updated to 22H2 on the laptop. The task manager comparison was the laptop vs my desktop, which is running 22H2. The difference between the two is what lead me to discover the laptop is running 21H2 and that I don't see the update. I've only used the Windows update app. Haven't tried the iso.

    Winver shows:

The are no 22H2 upgrade failures shown in the reliability monitor.

No problems indicated in Device manager. I should have mentioned that the SSD is extra storage only, not an OS drive. There don't appear to be any windows update related errors in event viewer.

I'll give the iso update a go, see if that works, and update the thread.

    Thanks

Updating using the ISO worked with no issues.

    Thanks for the help.

Likely MS hasn't pushed the update because they were seeing issue with the drivers for some of the hardware. They often take a year or so before they've got the latest out to all models.
