Predator Orion 7000 Cloning original factory M.w PCIe C: drive.

Hi, I recently purchased the Predator Orion 7000 that came with Win 11 installed along with the recovery system in a hidden partition. Since then I have installed a second PCIe Gen 4 M.2 Samsung 980 PRO 1 TB PCIe 4.0 (up to 7,000 MB/s) NVMe M.2 (2280) Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) which i will use only to install games on. However being an amateur I did not realise that the M.2 ssd that is. Used with the operating system on should ideally be the fastest drive. My C: drive is from Micron which compared to the Samsung 980 pro is definitely a lot slower. Therefore in the near future I would like to clone the entire C: drive including the hidden recovery partition onto a Samsung 990 pro M.2 1TB. Is this possible and if so what would be the best and easiest way to do this remembering this 72 year old is an amateur.with no knowledge of cloning anything.

Hi, I am 78 and migrated entire laptop drives to external drives but always used image files instead of cloning, not only because my freeware backup programs don't include cloning but image files are much smaller and I find image files easier to restore and to mount in Windows File Explorer just to find something or to create a virtual drive that boots. I use monthly (after each Windows update) W7 Update>Create an image file in W11 (22H2) and for an extra image in case something goes wrong I make one with EaseUS Todo (freeware that includes mounting image files). Windows restores image files with the Recovery USB flash drive, super easy and very friendly menus, takes 40 minutes for 120 GB file to restore without losing a single folder, file or disk volume (3).

dragon4551 i thought the same thing, except my 5000 came with a stock samsung 1tb ssd that windows is on, i added a crucial p5-4th gen, 2 tb gaming ssd in slot 2, and have all my steam games on it, everything works perfect so i decided not to use the crucial cloning software and leave everything as is.

Hi, well when I ordered my 7000 the writer from the site also said it came with a Samsung drive as the system drive. However in reality it turned out to be a Micron drive. I have a lot of faith in Samsung drives over the years and so the Micron drive was a disappointment

Hi all, thanks for all your input. However being a complete novice I do not know what options I have to have in the cloning process, also does cloning also clone the invisible partition that holds the factory original Windows 11 installation. I need to be able to do this as I do not hold a physical version of Windows 11 and don't intent to pay extra to do so.

well, the crucial came with cloning software, i used it already and it went well and worked, so im not sure about the samsung you purchased if it came with any software, mine came with acronis true image for crucial its called, and the crucial i bought is better and faster than the samsung that came with my 5000, anyways keep us posted and tc n gl.

The Samsung 980 pro that is my second drive with the games came with no software. However, I did download its Magician software that checks speed and optimised the drive but it does not clone or partition drives.

yeah, i also got that but it wont read my drives, says they are oem and not true samsung lol, im like ok? lol

Thanks for the answers, however reading through the Samsung Data Migration manual it definately states that it will not clone manufacturers recovery partition if the OEM drive is not Samsung. I guess that has answered my question, so will need to find another cloning software that does.
