Predator Triton 500 PT515-51-557V stuck in Boot loop

Hi,

my Acer Predator Triton 500 PT515-51-557V does not boot up anymore. That last thing I saw was a regular windows login screen.

Now it has two phases when turning it on:

A (once): Keyboard animation, keyboard fully lights up for a few seconds, nothing on screen

B (loops): Keyboard animation starts and stops quickly, laptop turns off, repeats.

What I tried so far is disconnecting the battery, via the breaker-switch at the bottom and via pulling the battery cable. This hasn't led to anything unfortunately.

Any ideas what I could try?

Hi,

Try battery reset using the pinhole at the base cover, you have to turn off the laptop and disconnected from mains, after the battery reset, leave the laptop to rest for 15-20 Minutes before trying to start the laptop.

You can also try resetting BIOS to default values, if that's possible, press F2 button as soon as you press power button and move to Main tab, press F9 button, then press F10 to Save&Exit.

If the above doesn't help, you have to try removing the Battery connectinon and the CMOS battery, leave the laptop to rest for 30 minutes, reinsert everything and try starting the laptop.

thanks for the reply, but I anready tried that, like I wrote in my post:

I tried this many times and with varying time intervals. No luck.

Resetting the BIOS defaults is not possible, as the device does not even come that far in its booting process, like it is shown in my linked video.

No problem, you could try removing the memory modules and see whether you could access the BIOS, if not, you have to get it fixed by Acer support centre or at a local laptop repair shop, by the way, did you check the display cable for any damage or loose connection?

Hi,

I removed all RAM, my SSD and and the WLAN module. Then the laptop does not boot loop but is just stuck at a lighting keyboard. No BIOS, no nothing: https://streamable.com/u1mrue

I found a pretty similar issue in the forum, which suggests force-flashing the BIOS via USB. I am a bit hesitant to that measure, but honestly the machine seems dead anyways ;(

I think you are trying too quickly, you have to let it flash BIOS and wait patiently, don't touch any buttons while flashing BIOS, sometimes it may take longer and laptop becomes dormant for a long period of time.

You did not write that you discharged the MOBO when you had the battery cable disconnected: Disconnect the battery cable, put everthing else back (CMOS, DDR4 modules, etc,) and keep the Power Button depressed for 2-3 minutes (this is the most critical item if you have a static charge buildup). then try to start with the power charger plugged in only (some laptops start without battery) if that does not work, unplug the adapter and connect the battery cable, then try to power up. Flash the BIOS woud be next to try, if that also fails bring/send your laptop to Acer Services for checking.

That was only for video evidence :) My first try was turning it on with Fn+Esc and wait >15min, nothing happening, no access to the thumb drive the whole time (its LED does not blink).

Thank you for your input :) I removed the battery cable and kept the power button pressed for about 10min, then powered up the laptop without the battery. Unfortunately with the same result (tested with and without Fn+Esc+thumbdrive): https://streamable.com/npkeq4

That's fine, flashing failed at the first attempt for @MiloIV as well, so give it a second try and see, otherwise you have to get it fixed by a Technician at a local laptop repair shop, it looks like a corrupted BIOS

Before the problem occurs, can you tell if windows update tried to force a bios update? It is an image similar to this one, before windows login, but with the acer logo:

Hi,

last thing I saw was the windows login screen. I did not log in, went to the kitchen and heard the predator bootup sound, sounded like a reboot. Then nothing. No BIOS update screen. The laptop was plugged in the whole time. :/
