Acer Predator Orion 3000 screen freeze.

Hi there!

Just unpacked and set up my brand new Predator Orion 3000, I7 12700F and RTX3070.

Made a complete reset before starting and as it's just for gaming I have installed only a few programs such as Epic, Steam etc.

all works brilliantly until I try to play a game, such as Fortnite. After 1-2 minutes of gaming, the screens freeze and show strange dots.

Discord is still online and I can communicate with friends, but both screens are completely frozen with no way to reset.

Have tried several times now, with the same result. The desktop is mounted free with no obstacles to hinder cooling.

I am loosing my mind here, anyone?

    Hello!!

    @Oncecimber

    The best way to restart a frozen computer is to hold the power button down for five to 10- 30 seconds. This will allow your computer to restart safely without the disruption of a total power loss.

    Power Drain method

    [Power drain for a desktop is just removing all cables including power cable. Press and hold the power button for 10 - 30 sec and then connect the cable back] Rest all process are sane.

    do you antivirus running? when i was using the norton that came with my predator 5000 something similar was happening to me, so i would put it in silent mode until i decided to uninstall it, anything down by your clock needs to be closed when gaming and also disable all programs not needed starting with your pc in the task manager startup tab, i also when one step further and in settings-apps-i also set each app to never in the run in the background, in windows 10 it has a slider to disable all but in windows 11 you have to do them one at a time !!@!!

    Is it always the same game, or any game? Does it freeze with any other apps? You say you did a complete reset, does that mean all the Acer specific utilities are now gone?

    The freezing and artifacts once it's under loads points at over heating , caused by the Graphics card or RAM, i'd say it's the RTX 3070 as soon as it goes under load, the samsung memory chips used on these run very hot and if the thermal pads aren't aligned corrected they will artifact and freeze the system, it's uncommon for that to happen on a brand new system but it can still happen, as this doesn't seem like a simple fault and even if you fix it yourself it would rear its head again later, i'd personally return it and get another, as these systems should be working fine out of the box, if you want to try something yourself, then the furthest you should go is reseating the RAM and Graphics card, and make sure the cooler block on the cpu is on properly.
