Acer One 10 S1002 - Webcam not attached (Windows 10)

Hi there!

I know, this netbook is kinda useless nowadays, BUT I would love to archive a fully functional unit if possible :)

I have updated it to the latest windows 10 build (19045.2673) and EVERYTHING is working fine. Brightness and auto rotation included.

The only hardware piece I cannot fix is the webcam. When I start the Windows camera app I get this message : “0xa00f4244 nocamerasareattached”.

If I check in control panel, there isn's a single component that shows a driver issue. Weird.

I have listed a “Intel® AVStream Camera” with driver version “20.10154.5740.705” and date “04/07/2015”.

The drivers that I have in my hands are named:

  • hm2056
  • iacamera
  • ov2680
  • ov5648

Windows seems to install the drivers from the iacamera folder.

If I uninstall the device (and its drivers) it goes under the name “Intel® Imaging Signal Processor 2400" with driver version “13.32.55.863” and date “14/11/2014”.

Then if I restart the device it goes back to “Intel® AVStream Camera”.

Any hint would be appreciated. “Throw away that monstruosity” is not an option :D

Thank you in advance :D

Download and install iobit's Driver Booster freeware to see if it can pick up anything better on line to get it functioning again.

I managed to download a slightly newer version of the driver. A couple of months more recent. With a similar driver downloader tool I cannot find anything newer. I will try the one you are suggesting.

Is the Windows 10 version you have installed 32bit? If so, try installing the Platform Drivers from Acer's support site after uninstalling the camera drivers.

Yes it's the 32bit version. I updated it straight from windows 8.1 back in the days.

I already went thru that step with no luck. The drivers are installed correctly since there are no issues in the device manager.

Did you download and install Driver Booster freeware yet to see if it can pick up anything better online? It's one of the better ones.

The next step that might help is to uninstall the USB host controllers from Device Manager and let the system reinstall on reboot. That might help if the issue is a corrupted handshake between the camera and system on bootup.

Yes but with no luck. Mouse and keyboard update, gpio update and another one that i can't remember. I might give it another try.

Did you re-boot yet to let the updates take affect?

    Yes, of course :)

The windows 10 update seems to be pretty cursed on this device. Let alone Linux :)

Google search ‘ViewPlayCap’. Download, install and run it. If it fails to detect the camera, then the video cable bundle that passes through the hinge area might have broken cam wires to due wear & tear of opening and closing the lid too much. Replacments are cheap but requires fairly serious disassembly of the screen lid and top cover to access its connectors.

Thank you mate! I will try this asap. But this device has no lid :) it's a 2 in 1 device with a detachable keyboard. The cameras are built in the tablet shell. They seem to be properly attached. I had to disassemble it in order to fix the docking connector. It came loose. Anyway I'll double check
