I lost my sound after a recent Windows update. The Microsoft tech says it's because my driver is from 2017 and is not compatible with the latest version of Windows. Maybe that's true, maybe not. Is there a later audio driver I can use? I've done all the troubleshooters, uninstall, reinstall, etc. and nothing has worked. The laptop is not recognizing the speaker at all- there's an x by the speaker icon and there's no sound to earphones. Please help as I need to zoom for work and this laptop is not that old. Thanks.

UPDATE: After one Microsoft tech took over an hour to tell me the problem couldn't be solved, another fixed it in 20 minutes. She downloaded a new Audio Console and Driver and all's well now. Thank you.

Refresh all the drivers in Device Manager Sound video and game controllers then go to Properties > Drivers > Update drivers > Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer, and then use the last driver in that list or if there is only one driver then reinstall it again, do this for every driver and then reboot the laptop,. Audio drivers are not only from Realtek as they consist of AMD HD, Intel Wi-Fi/BT and other smartphones that you nave connected and headphones. Try that as updating the Realtek audio driver will do nothing.

Thanks but it didn't help. The only driver showing was AMD, then after I browsed the last driver was High Definition. I clicked on that then rebooted, but it didn't help. Are there not any other drivers I can download? Still have the x by the speaker. I gotta fix this.
