I *believe* that the SSD is soldered directly on the main board, so unless you want to break out the hot-air rework tools...probably not.

FYI, by and large 64GB micro SDXC cards seem to work without issue.  I've got a 64GB card in there and haven't had any problems.

Think what you are looking for is "Storage Spaces" under "Settings" but it does not appear that you can use a removable drive for expansion anyway.

My preference is to use the "C" drive only for programs and to put all data including user fies on a removable "D" drive. That way I can have multiple microSD cards for different purposes. The bigest issue for me is marking/indexing the different microSD cards so I know what is on which.

    yes, it dose not work.

32 is to low for widows 8, i made mistake purchasing it. I hope Acer will give us the how to solider new ssd to the motherboard, like manual or white paper or artical then when know what to do.

W510 is great device but limited with storage apace. hope we will find solution soon.

    thanks for your input.

    Spoiler

Sorry ? I have run/loaded Win 8, Win 8 Pro, Windows To Go, and Windows 8.1 To Go on both my 32 GB W3 and my 32 GB W510. Other than the Win 8 > Win 8 Pro update which just needed a key, they did require clean installs followed by load of all the Acer/Intel/etc special drivers. Have also loaded from a 32 GB Workspace drive and a 120GB external SSD.

32GB is not enough to partition for dual boot but you can load any one at a time.

Where are you having a problem ?

ps just tried it and when I hook a 120GB SSD up to my USB powered hub, Win8 on the W3 will allow me to use it for "Storage Spaces" but I really, really, REALLY think that is a bad idea.

You can see your SDCard in Storage Manager and make some actions on it (rename, format...).

But run Storage Manager on a SDCard, i don't understand...

So, if you have it in Explorer, you must have it in Storage Manager.

It's call HD 1 (HD 0 is your internal drive). It's the removable one.

There are two kinds of storage media (not going into optical), Hard Drives and Removable Storage. SD cards and most (there are exceptions) flash drives are considered "Removable" and a number of functions cannot be done with them.

So basically can not use storage space with sdcard.

Are you at the good place?

I mean, Storage Manager is a part of Computer Management (Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management).

    Choose Storage - Disk Management.

You can choose Action - Update or Analyse to see your SDCard in the center panel.

You want to expand your HD 0 with a SDCard? It's not possible, mate.

The device has to report to Windows that it is a fixed disk and not removable.
