I'm using an ACER Aspire ES1-355 and I'm trying to create a dual boot with debian (downloaded the lastest version from official website, tried both live distro and the regular one, not even the live usb booted), installing it in a second partition.

Here's what I've done so far:
0. Done all the steps below before update the BIOS, then:

1. Updated the BIOS
2. Entered the BIOS and disabled secure boot.
3. Set the boot priority to USB
4. Created the bootable usb using RUFUS set to MBR  [BIOS (or UEFI - CSM)]  (didn't work)
5. Created the bootable usb using RUFUS set to GPT  [BIOS (no CSM)]  (didn't work)

So I tought the problem was the usb...

6. Created the bootable usb using YUMI
7. Created the bootable usb using Unebootin
8. Created the bootable usb using win32diskmanager
9. Created the bootable usb using Balena

Still, the BIOS only recognizes the main HD, the only option in F12 boot menu is windows.

10. I've tried the live usb in another 2 notebooks and it worked as it supposed to, but in this ACER it simply doesn't boot and windows is launched in every attempt.

You must check check boot mode under boot tab in bios.
    -MBR boot in Legacy mode
    -GPT boot in UEFI mode

I don't know of an ES1-355 model. Did you mean 533 instead? MBR won't work at all, and that's expected. GPT and UEFI is needed. You may have to add the Linux install UEFI files to the trusted boot environment.

Yes, 533, sorry about that! Also, thank you for the reply!

" You may have to add the Linux install UEFI files to the trusted boot environment."

    How do I do that?

I've tried with fedora media writter and finally the live media booted, but when I've tried to install it in the partition, it freezes in the "installing bootloader" and stops responding completely. The install bar shows "system installed 100%" and then proceed to "installing bootloader" and stops there.

In the BIOS, I believe in the Security tab, there should be an option to Select an UEFI file as trusted for executing. It's probably trying to replace the existing boot loader with grub instead of adding the Linux boot link to the existing UEFI.

bootable sticks not recognized on Aspire XC-1760 (window 11 home)

I tried to use usb bootable sticks made with YUMI-2.0.9.4 , with diffferent ISO's, system unlisted GRUB, wich worked well on all my windows 10 machines.. After pressing F12, getting the bootmenu, on all USB ports in this new computer, I see only the windows bootmenu, no bootable USB at all.

The usb stick is ntfs formatted or fat32.No difference.

Tips to solve this problem are very welcome.

    Regards,

    Reinder

The USB flash drives need to be configured for UEFI boot, and if their EFI images aren't signed you need to disable Secure Boot in the BIOS menu, or add them to the EFI Trusted list, also in the BIOS.
