TravelMate P215-41-G2 heatpipe damage and I noticed heating problems

Hi there,

I noticed heating problems with my Acer laptop (TravelMate P215-41-G2). It went so far that it was emergency shut down several times in normal usage scenarios, temps above 100 degrees Celsius. So I opened my laptop and checked the fan and heatpipe which is damaged. The connection between the actual heatpipe and the fixing plate has come apart now and it looks like the thermal paste has burnt through the material. Any idea how this could happen?

Best regards

I really sorry for the inconvenience. It looks like a hardware issue.

If your laptop is in warranty you can contact the warranty dept.     Go to the website support.acer.com - chose your country.   On the new page - scroll down -  click on "contact support".  Scroll down.  You can find the phone no to contact the warranty dept.

If it is out of warranty, please contact local store or

Go to the website support.acer.com - chose your country.   On the new page - scroll down -  Click on  "Repair My Acer" - Request to have your Acer product repaired.   There will be charges for repair.

Additional info to contact Acer Store:  Please visit the website - support.acer.com - chose your country - click on shop.   You can buy desktop, laptop, monitor and accessories.  Alternatively,  on the top right corner you can find the phone no to contact Acer store.   For the parts which are not available on Acer store, you have to contact local store.

Hi, I have already replaced the heatpipe with a used one that I bought on eBay 😅 I paid 35 € for the replacement part. Is there a way to get a refund for that? I didn't want to wait for a repair process because I need my laptop for work …

@citizen4 if you have replaced the heat pipe and it works perfectly, then you are good to go.

Please remember to include @AnhEZ28 when you want to reply back to my comment so that I can check your response.
Thank you and have a nice day!

And Acer won't be reimbursing you for that expense. If you were still in warranty then it would potentially have been better to let them fix it for you, but since you did it yourself that avenue is likely closed.

Anyway, 35 € out of my own pocket is nothing compared to the (indirect) costs of waiting weeks for a repair and
organising a replacement laptop in the meantime, migrating data, and so on. I got the new heatpipe within only 2 days, so I am happy.
