Just wanted to post that I successfully installed the NH-U12A CPU cooler into my Orion 5000. Temps went from 100c while playing Battlefield 2042 to about max 62c.

So, if you are having heating issues, this is a very good solution. Also, if I can install this cooler, ANYBODY can install this cooler!

Well done Zyklon and that is a perfect install, thanks for letting community members know as the NH-U12A is a bigger cpu cooler from Noctua than the NH-U9S that allot of member have fitted to these desktops.

Nice work! I personally installed a DeepCool AK400 and got almost the same amount of temp reduction from 100C to 63C! I think the tower cooler is much more efficient in cooling the CPU compared to the stock cooler.

yo dude awesome job, but put the extra fan above the cooler as exhaust it helps out, i have 2 up there and my temps are lower now than without them, what card do you have in yours the 3080 ? now i dont have that game is it that demanding or are you guys playing on a higher resolution that you were getting 100C? with my stock cooler i was getting 63 on my games on max settings at 1080p 240hz. now i average 38-48 depending on the game.

Good job man, looks awesome. As Chug said, throw the extra frostblade up top for slightly better cooling.

If you aren't planning on using the HDD cage, removing it will give you better cooling to the GPU as well.

@chugzilla I think the reason some of our temps are higher than yours is due to the 3080/resolution on the games, I was running the stock CPU cooler on 1440p/165hz ultra to get up into the 90s range.

yeah i bet, i only have a 3070 and 1080p monitors, so i cant reproduce that heat lol, but i understand now, thx for clearing that up buddy, heh.

I was writing a similar response but never finished. I have two 1440p monitors, both at 165hz. Battlefield also seems like a pretty demanding game as well. Recommends an RTX3060 and 16GB of RAM, which is a lot more demanding than most games I have played.

Next upgrade is 64 GB of the Crucial RAM. Decided that spending 350 bucks on RGB ram wasn't worth it.

well, i just watched all the trailers for battlfield 2042, and it looks crazy complicated haha, ive never played anything like this and also i noticed its 60 dollars, no single player mode, and out of 135k reviews it says mostly negative on steam, so yeah ill pass until it goes on sale, if it ever does, i have never played online games before, always single player, not sure if ide like it but the gfx look crazy awesome. what do all you guys think that play it? i know most of you putting in the noctua coolers play this game coincidentally. and Zyklon i see now higher resolution gets higher temps glad i only got 1080p monitors now lol and yes very soon here im ordering another 2x16 from crucial to max out at 64 gigs i check daily waiting on prices to fall, i have 48 now and its very fast and works great mixing the stock samsung and the crucial together.

I've just had an older 2018 Predator Orion 3000 die on me and I'm waiting for my new Predator 05-640-EB11 to be delivered.

For the CPU coolers installed above are these done with the existing Acer cooler screw mounts or do I have to get to the backside of the motherboard to install the new cooler's backing plate? If so then do I have to remove the motherboard out of the case as for me this would be a no go to upgrade?

you do not have to remove the backplate or MB, thats up too you if you want to use the hardware that comes with any tower cooler, all you need to buy-get is 4-3mx10mm screws to mount it to the existing acer plate, then mount the extra fan uptop as exhaust like we all have done, those screws im not sure of the size i had an assorted pack of non metric and i just found 4 that worked lol, its really simple and any tower cooler will work everyone seems to make them now and they are all better than the stock cooler. so keep us posted and show pictures when you are done and GL !

Did you use the existing screw holes from the factory fan for the brackets that come with the new fan? I have the same PC and just ordered the same fan. Also, do you still use the PredatorSense cooling app to change the RPM's of the fans?

read the instructions and use the intel bracket and spacers then you will need 4-m3x10mm screws to mount the brackets to the acer backplate. then use the y adapter and plug it into the same port the stock fan was. it's simple and easy. then the stock cooler fan can be mounted right above the cooler as exhaust.

here is my 5000 and all the modifications you can see i have done to make it better.

hey everyone. I know this post is old but I have the same PC and the same fan but am having a hard time installing it. I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get to the back of the motherboard without taking the whole thing off. OP - did you take the motherboard out or did you do something else? Thanks :)

(I see the comments about screwing it in using the original mount but I’m wondering how the OP did it)

you have 2 choices remove the MB and use the Noctua hardware or you need 4-m3x10mm screws to use the acer backplate.

Yes, it only requires a slightly different screw length to use the stock backplate.

thanks both. I’ll try that. I was attempting to take the motherboard out yesterday but didn’t manage it and now after putting it back together my pc turns on but there is no signal to the monitor. All the fans and lights are on. Has this happened to you before?

Which GPU card do you have? Are you sure it's fully seated in the slot, with the plastic latch on the back … latched?
