TMP214-53-58GN Lifecycle Extension Guide

Is there a lifecycle extension guide available for this model like the one available for the TMP214-52?

    TMP214-54 the next year’s model has a lifecycle extension guide out now but it seems they missed the TMP214-53

    Compare the 54 with the 52. They might be the same. If they are, then you can probably assume it covers the 53 as well.

    The 54 is definitely different. They removed the GPU option entirely and the size looks a bit different. The 53 looks more like the 52.

    That's likely because both the 52 & 53 series offered a second discrete nvida GPU. The 54 series apparently only offers a single integrated Intel GPU . So I'd have to guess the 52 also applies to the 53.

    I just finished upgrading my machine and I took a picture of the board that I can compare with the 52 later. I wonder if they decided to remove the discrete GPU since the P2 is designed with only one fan and heat pipe. The cooling might not be enough for the CPU and the additional GPU to perform to their full capability.

    Yes. Here's what the TMP214-52 or -53 with only one integrated Intel CPU/GPU looks like vs the TMP214-52G or -53G with the added nvidia discrete GPU.

    So I'd guess the -54 without the -G designation also resembles the 52 and 53 without the -G designation

    The inside of my 53 (image below) looks identical to the images of the 52 I’ve seen.

    Yep No nvidia GPU in the 53. Only the 53G has the nvidia GPU chip soldered to the mainboard..

    I noticed the bottom air intake is pretty open, therefore dust gets in quite easily. Does acer offer an air filter part?

    Also I found it interesting that the battery isn’t attached to the frame by anything except that connector and the piece of tape. It’s great for repair but it was a surprise when I tilted it with the bottom cover off and the battery fell out.

    Air filter not recommended due to airflow restriction. Fan suction is not as strong manifold suction on an internal combustion engine. Occasional vacuuming air intake and blowing air into exhaust ports is all that's needed if it's in a dusty environment. Also great for repair is an HDD or SSD that's only immobilzed and protected by foam rubber instead of a frame & screws. Just don't tip the laptop right side up after you've removed the bottom cover. None of my laptops have batteries or drives that are screwed or framed into the top case anymore even though originally designed that way. Screws and frames absolutely not needed when the bottom cover is in place.
