Hello, I have an Acer Aspire A315-41-R18T (SNID:XXXX) and I recently replaced the battery of it because the old one was faulty (It cause my laptop to unexpectedly shutdown and made an arcing noise). I have replaced it with the exact same model today and I still have issues. Windows recognised the battery when it was plugged in and it saw it was at 28% however, it did not charge it. I will list all the details of what happens below.

  1. When plugged in, the orange battery indicator stays orange for 1 second then turns off for a second, then repeats this cycle indefinitely
  2. When plugged in and hovering over the battery icon in the bottom right in windows, the text reads "5% available, plugged in", it does not say not charging or charging at all
  3. When the battery was at 28%, as a test, I disconnected the power and the laptop remained powered from 28% all the way until 5%. During this time the orange LED battery indicator was off.

I would also like to say that I have investigated the software side too (such as re-installing drivers) but there has been no luck. I've tried to do stuff on the BIOS level too but ACER have the BIOS almost entirely locked down. All this evidence above leads me to think that there is an issue with the charging circuit in the laptop. However, now I am unsure of what I should do? Is there anyone who may be able to tell me what the flashing orange light means, I've heard it means that the battery level is critically low but that does not make sense as it still occurred when the battery was at 28% initially. Any useful help will be appreciated, Thank you.

This is the battery report from windows, this report was all from the new battery and where it says battery changed was because I disconnected and reconnected it to make sure I hadn't plugged it in incorrectly

I doubt this is the reason. My laptop works as usual while plugged in and ever since I removed the faulty battery, it has not unexpectedly shutdown. If the charger was at fault I would expect that it wouldn't work when plugged in, but it does.
