W3/W510 and GPS

Aswe know, none of the Clover Trail tablets that do not have internal 3G/4G/LTE have GPS receivers. While a number of external receivers (Garmin/Microsoft, GlobalSat) exist the are external USB devices.

Recently I came across an app in the store for Android smart phones called GPS over BT which permits the Delorme Street Atlas 2013+ to use the smart phone for location information and can serve as an onboard Sat-Nav that does not require an internet connection - all maps are stored onboard.

Next in the queue is to try with Microsoft Streets and Trips.

    Padgett,

You can also use an external bluetooth GPS device such as this.  I have several from when I used Windows Mobile devices for GPS and they all work great with the W3 and Delorme and Microsoft Streets and Trips.

Hmmm Globalsat 368: $60. GPS over BT: free. Tough decision. (I have senveral GS devices but not all are compatible with Windows 8. I have no eperience with the 368.
