Ref PO3-640-UR11 – is the MOBO’s “ATX power”, “6-pin ATX power connector” the new ATX12VO standard?

I notice the connector uses 5-wires instead of 6. The OEM PSU wires are not color coded to aid identification. Well-meaning community comments span several years and standards, and conflict is some cases. The lack of official, detailed information does not help identify whether this connector is the ATX12VO standard or an Acer propriety standard.

    Thank you for the speedy reply. Like many other postings, here and in other forums, the attention seems to go to the PCIe 6-pin connector (companion to the 8-pin PCIe connector).

    However, I'm interested in the "ATX_Power", "6-pin ATX power connector", as shown in the MOBO's item #5 callout. Both connectors are the same form factor, but different electrically. The PSU sends power to the MOBO at three places - the two 2x2 CPU power connectors you shared (item #21 callout, ATX_12V1 and 12V2) and at the 6-pin ATX power connector (callout #5).

    There is much information on the 6-pin PCIe connector and precious little official Acer information on their 6-pin ATX power connector. Historically, this connector has been described as a 1x6 connector with 3.3VDC, 5VDC, 5Vsb, and 12VDC and later as a 2x6 connector with 12VDC only (the ATX12CVO standard). Many advertised 24-pin to 6-pin adapter color-codes show proprietary difference in pinouts.

    The confusion is some manufacturers use the ATX12VO standard, while others use proprietary pinouts. What does Acer use?

    What are you going to use this 6pin connector for? Give us more details as we as community members don't have any tech info on PSU except from their descriptions in SGs at the FRU lists and their part numbers. The information that you need. you should enquire at the manufacturers that make the PSDUs for Acer or call Acer Tech Support in your area and find out the answer to your tech questions. As I've said before, this is a technical question, and we don't encourage any user to test and/or find out any voltage's/amps etc with a live PSU as its way too dangerous. please be aware of that.

    It's not "what am I going to use this 6pin connector for". The Acer PSU (LITEON PA-4501-1AC) uses the cable/connecter at the 6-pin ATX power connector (header on MOBO) as part of the MOBO power scheme. The knowledge of whether Acer applies the ATX12VO standard or a proprietary standard at this connector is useful in informing troubleshooting, and the long-range plan to eventually replace or upgrade the 500W PSU in the future. 500W is very close to the budget margins already for the current add-ons. There is not much future capacity using the current PSU.

    I appreciate and understand your position regarding electrical safety - it's a statement your lawyers will also appreciate. I'm a retired electrical engineer, technician, and computer hobbyist. I'm also concerned regarding safety but armed with the experience to perform these measurements myself. However, I'd prefer to rely on Acer to provide the information.

    I'm on the edge of civilization and am not aware of any Acer technical support in my region (define region). Seems like information that should be available at an online technical support center. However, all my searches on the Acer site have failed.

    It looks like you posted essentially the same question in a bunch of different threads. The last image Steven posted is incorrect for your 12VO system, but I posted pinouts for you on a few of your other threads. It's more efficient and less confusing for people to to only ask the questions once and wait for an answer instead of over and over again... The missing wire on the six pin connector is just a third ground, the return for PS_On.

    Correct. I recognized StevenGen's last image as the 6-pin PCIe video connector pinout. I also compared your 6-pin ATX_PWR to the ATX12VO standard to confirm Acer is using a non-standard ATX_PWR connector, which is the information I sought. Thank you.
