Spin 1 SP111-31 N16W2 starts on AC, won't start on battery

I bought this laptop with the warning that it only runs on the power supply.

So, (being smart), I replaced the installed battery with a new one identical to the old one, model AC14B8K (41CP5/57/80) .

Is that the right battery for this computer?

The laptop still will not start on battery power, but it will start if the power supply is connected.

The orange light shows when plugged in, and the blue light illuminates when I press the power switch.

There seems to be a delay of a minute or so before the screen lights up.

Any ideas? Thanks

The new battery was probably in a low charge state to begin with. Just from sitting on a shelf. Try this. Shut the laptop off normally. Keep it plugged in. Wait for the battery charge LED to turn from steady orange to steady blue. Depending on the charge state, this may take up to 24 hours. When the charge LED turns steady blue, turn it on again and let it boot to Windows. Then unplug the charger to see if it stays on. If it does, shut Windows down normally again. Let it set a minute or so. Then try to turn it on again unplugged with the battery alone.

The stock battery is an Acer part number KT.0040G.006 or KT.00403.040 depending on which manufacturer it was from. Either will work correctly, and both are AC14Bs.

Interesting. I did what you suggested before I read your reply.. The machine started fine the next day, and again today, after sitting for 2 days powered down. Thank you.
