My new SWIFT 5 (SF514-56T) just arrived, and I can't get it to work with Microsoft Hello. This means that I can't sign on via Facial Recognition.

Microsoft settings says "We couldn't find a camera compatible with Windows Hello Face". According to Device Manager, the camera is an Intel(R) ADL AVStream Camera with a driver from December 30, 2021. So it's hard to believe that it's really not compatible. The camera is working with normal applications (e.g., ZOOM and MS TEAMS).

After speaking with both ACER and MS support, I updated all the software and firmware on the PC, yet it's still not working. FWIW, the thumbprint reader isn't working either (again, with updated drivers etc). Any other suggestions to try?

I need to also mention that it has Bios version 1.09, while the most recent version is 1.10. I can try updating the BIOS, but didn't want to go through the hassle/risk of doing that. It's a last resort....

Did you try the driver from the support site for your model? The fingerprint driver is also on this site.

    Or try Microsoft Update Catalog.

Yes. When I said I updated "all the software and firmware", I should have explicitly mentioned that I updated all the drivers. For the camera, 63.22000.6744.6 from June 2022 is what's on my system.

That is correct, it takes a special camera in order to do the Microsoft facial recognition. Most laptops don't support it. You could add an external camera that does it, but with Windows Hello setup for a PIN and fingerprint recognition you still get decent security.

I was looking for someone who owns the 2022 Swift 5 model, I noticed you do when searching the forums. I wanted to find out what SSd it uses specifically the model. Can you check task manager or hardware info on Windows to see the model of SSD it is? That would be greatly appreciated before I buy it. I think you just clicked the performance tab in task manager then click disk and it should show the model number in the top

Acer typically sources SSDs from multiple vendors, so you often can't tell which specific model is installed just by looking at the model or SKU. You should be able to tell for yours either using Disk Management, Device Manager or by simply looking at the drive.
