I have owned my Swift SF314-51-76EY for almost 5 years now and the charging port has been an issue for almost all of that time. The port will not hold the charging cord in place and the cord is CONSTANTLY falling out (with an annoying beeping sound every time it connected or disconnected-I have since solved that problem). For the last few years I have had to tape my charger into the port to keep it from falling out (which means wherever I go with my laptop, it has a 3 foot leash dragging along behind it!). Now the charger is becoming more and more unwilling to charge and I have to toggle the cord just so to get it to charge. New chargers make no difference.
After 5 years, I am willing to buy another laptop. Consumer Reports does recommend a newer Acer Swift 3 model which I am willing to buy (since otherwise the computer has been great. I've had no issues with speed or processing) but ONLY if the charging port issue has been fixed (I have read others have had the same issues I have had) or there is another way to charge to laptop besides the AC adaptor.
Can you tell me if this charging port issue is fixed on later Swift 3 models or if there is another way to charge my computer or if there is a quick and easy fix to the charging port issue. Thank you Kindly,
Trina
