Hi all,

I wonder if one of you might be able to help me with my daughter's laptop? :)

It's an Aspire S7-392-54208G12tws and has been temperamental for a while now.

I think the battery is nearing the end of its life but it's now run into a problem where it won't turn on at all.

Whenever we go to turn the laptop on, the power light just flashes blue once every 5 seconds or so and the laptop doesn't come on at all (no fans/screen etc.).

I've opened it up and removed the main battery, and plugged into the AC adaptor it still does the same (with the battery still disconnected).

I also tried removing the CMOS battery for a while to reset the BIOS settings but that didn't do anything.

I can't see anything obviously blown on the motherboard.

Is it likely to be fixable? Is there anything else easy that I can try? Any common problems that might cause this behaviour?

The charging light comes on and after a time goes from amber to blue, so I think the battery and AC Adaptor are still functional.

Thanks,

Andy

    Hi all,

Does anyone have any thoughts on what this might be? :)

I presume the laptop should power on ok with the AC adaptor plugged in but the battery disconnected?

If I thought for sure it was just the battery then I'd replace that, but I suspect it's more likely a dodgy capacitor somewhere on the motherboard or something.

Does anyone know of any common failures on this generation of laptops that lead to this behavior of not powering on, but blue power light flashing every 5 seconds?

    Thanks,

    Andy
