ACER Nitro 5 AN515-57-921P Video Game FPS Issues

I have recently bought an ACER Nitro 5 AN515-57-921P with

  • 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-11900H @ 2.50GHz
  • Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)
  • GPU NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU

With such specs, I would expect my video games to play at a high FPS with no lag spikes even on high graphics settings.

Examples:

  1. VALORANT at Low graphics settings on default resolution (80-140 FPS with no FPS cap)
  2. Team Fortress 2 at High graphics settings on default resolution (100-140 FPS with no FPS cap)

Yes, some people may say that those framerates may be more than enough but it is quite strange for an RTX 3060 graphics card to achieve only that much especially for games that are not considered "heavy".

I have already tried going to the NVIDIA Control Panel to set the default GPU/PhysX Processor to the RTX 3060 and downloaded the latest drivers from NVIDIA GeForce Experience. I even tried setting the default GPU to "High Performance" (RTX 3060) in the Windows 11 Graphics settings for each game. However, none of these seemed to help boost my FPS in all of my video games. I suspected this might be a case of integrated graphics being used rather than dedicated graphics, but after some research, I found that the laptop has no MUX switch and as said previously, I did already set the default GPU to the RTX 3060 through various methods.

There are no issues with the RAM nor having many programs run in the background. In fact, I know of a person who does NOT experience these issues on an older model of the ACER Nitro 5 with the same exact specs with the exception of the processor (AMD Ryzen 7 5000 Series). They were able to achieve 200+ FPS on VALORANT on Medium graphics settings on default resolution. I suspect there is just a software issue/setting that I might have missed.

Please let me know if there is a solution to this issue.

    Update:

It seems the main issue is can be found in the following screenshot where it says the internal display is still connected to the Intel(R) UHD Graphics. It is supposed to be connected to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU.

Is there a way for me to change this setting?

Hey man, I want to ask about the situation you are currently in, because I also in the same situation. My Acer Nitro 5 with the same specs get alot of lag spikes and can't run games how i expect it to be.

By any chance did you know how to fix the problem? I'm on windows 10 currently.

    Thank you.
