Swift 3 SF314-59 - fingerprint reader no longer works after sleep mode

Hi there,

The Swift 3 (2021) fingerprint reader no longer works after sleep mode, although it worked well a few hours before.

And since I changed the password recently, I don't remember it or it's brkoen too. I restarted several times, and it asks for the fingerprint + the code now.

Since it is under warranty, I contacted the ACER hotline (chat) and they don't know, other than to reinstall everything. Safe mode won't start either. (I'll try again tonight)

What solution could reboot Windows at least? I have datas that I don't want to lose in it. Re-install the bios?

Hi,

Could you please confirm that you are unable to log in, did you setup a pin number for signing in? If you can access BIOS screen, move to Main tab, press F9 button to set it to default, then press F10 to save and exit, but do not try to Re-install BIOS because it may create more problems.

I also think that you may have to reinstall Windows, create a pin number as well for signing in as a backup.

We did a new installation with windows recovery : fingerprint works well now and no data were lost.

Aaaah ! This morning, fingerprint is KO again, asking for pin code but doesn't work either :/

Message is like : A problem occurs and pin code is not available. Click to setup new pin code.

But click is disable ! :(

Hi,

Try reinstalling Windows, then reinstall Quick Access Application(3.00.3038) after downloading from Acer Support site, it could be a loose cable connection as well, anyway give the above method a try and see.

We tried safe start, cmd repair command lines found on internet, restore but it is still the same : no fingerprint neither code pin available.

So I only can reinstall as you said but I have to try to recover datas from SSD before because my wife is crying now.

If you have a spare drive available, remove the original drive and use the spare drive to install Windows, once you have sorted the problem, you can recover the data from the original drive.
