Cannot install Ubuntu linux in PREDATOR ORION 7000 (DGE2TEM003)

Hello,

I wanted to install Ubuntu linux instead of Windows 11. Therefore, I followed Ubuntu official tutorial:

https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/install-ubuntu-desktop#1-overview

However, I face the following issue each time I boot the OS:

After doing some search, I understood that the issue could be because there are two NVME SSD with the same manufacturer's name and this caused the error.

To resolve the issue, I changed the mode to AHCI but still it did not work. How to resolve this issue?

Thank you,

Tap DEL key on startup to enter BIOS menu. Please post phone photo of BIOS Advanced page if possible.

Can you still boot to Win11? This looks like it might've originally been an Intel VMD and/or RAID factory setup. You might have to temporarily remove NVME1 if you can no longer boot Win11. Ubuntu is being confused by seeing two identically-configured NVME cards. Changing VMD/RAID to AHCI mode is not a straightforward process in this situation.

We are having the exact same problem and does not have a solution yet. When trying to boot ubuntu with an SD card it boots and works, but it only recognises one of the SSDs. It also seems to be random which of the SSDs it recognises.

Have also tried editing a grub file as according to this link:

This enables us to boot ubuntu approx. 20% of the time. Think the problem is still with ubuntu choosing randomly which of the SSDs to boot from.

Hoping a fix can be provided here.

Yes. GPartEd & many distros often don't see anything but nvme0 or only a single internal card connected as bootable. Things get even more complicated with two identical cards connected. Mint installations usually go well with only one card connected. Then once installed, the other cards can be reconnected and show up OK.

Alright, thanks for the answer. Still interested in a solution, but for now we just took out one of the SSDs and dual-booted windows and ubuntu on a single SSD. That works fine (as was anticipated) for now.

    >>>Still interested in a solution,>>>

Two solutions. Choose models that are designed for and marketed in both environments. Or use the work around till the distro designers figure it out on models that don't. 🙂
