Both Webcam and Mouse have suddenly stopped working on Aspire S7

This is a fairly new machine. I have not used it in the last 10 days.

From the beginning the mouse (the one that came in the box with the Aspire) would stop working and I often had to turn the mouse off and on again (then it would work for a while).

Today when I turned it on, the mouse would not work at all. The blue light on the mouse still blinks when I turn it on, so it is not a battery. Looking at the device manager, it does not see the mouse at all.

[A a side note, I tried 2 other usb/bluetooth ice. One it did not see at all. The other HP it sees, but I had to switch the buttons to ue it (ie, make right click primary)]

Then just now I did a skype with someone. No webcam (it worked up until today). Again, device manager shows no webcam installed.

As far as I know, there has not been an update to Windows 8 on this machine since I used it previuosly.

Anyone have any ideas? Cannot find anything in the knowledge base.

Sounds like the connection has come loose for the both of them (which is fairly odd). I would contact Acer so that they can arrange a repair for you. Chances are they'll have you do a refresh to eliminate the possibility of software issues but if that doesn't help you'll be getting it fixed. If you bought it less than three months ago they'll pick it up for you (as per the standard warranty).

Not a problem, and I know that we don't know if it is yet but if you're happy with the answer could you please mark it as the solution so that others with the same issue will more easily be able to find it?

Thanks in advance and take care,
